Check out the draft rapier rules. This should be the final draft of the rapier rules. After the rapier rules I have included Section 10, Marshalling for all Branches and the Rules of the List. Remember, this is a DRAFT and is NOT official until they are signed (look for a notice here). Click on the Rapier Rules link and then the Draft Rapier Rules link. Or just click HERE These rules put Youth Rapier under the regular rapier marshalate, add melees for minors, eliminate the chain mail gauntlet as a separate rule, add tournaments for C&T under limited conditions, clarify and spell out rules for minors on the field, and make the mechanical drop tester the prefered armor test for Ansteorra.

We have been having some problems with those spiffy new plastic tips from Darkwood. A few of them have punched through very quickly. Most seem to be holding up well but the quick punch throughs are a concern. Until we know more I ask all fighters using the Darkwood tips to please check your tip for punch through before each bout. I know that is extra effort but it only take a second and it is worth the effort. You might also try putting tape over the end of the blade and make sure it is taped very firmly to keep the blade from sliding further into the tip. Marshals, please carefully inspect any of these tips you see, even at practice. I would like to hear about any failures of these tips over the next few months. If your tip fails or you are marshaling when a tip fails I would appreciate a note telling me who's tip failed, when and were it failed, a description of the tip failure and the blade end, and how the tip was attached. I would also like to know how the tip was seated, how long it has been on the sword and if it had been striking hard surfaces. You might also save the tip and give it to me if you see me at an event. Duchess Conal will be stepping down as Central Regional Rapier Marshal at Kings Round Table in July. I will be accepting applications for this position from April 1 until June 1. There will be an announcement in the May Black Star. Regional positions are not just reporting positions. I do expect reports to be consistantly complete and on time but I also expect the regional rapier marshal to take primary responsibility for promoting rapier and proactivly resolving problems in their region. As Central region touches many other regions and hosts many rapier activities, it is important to have a marshal who has the energy and time to devote to this office and the judgement and knowlege the job demands. |
